Property Description

This historic building was formerly the home of the Charleston Milling Company, the makers of Charmco 44 Flour around the turn of the century.  It is located in Charleston’s historic East End and provides five (5) floors and a basement for lease.





IMPROVEMENTS MADE TO CHARMCO:





  • Removed all rooms on all floors and in basement.


  • Repaired all floors with ¾” AdvanTec tongue &Groove flooring.


  • Repaired rubber roof membrane.


  • Overhauled the sprinkler system for compliance with WV Code.


  • Had building inspected by structural engineer and added recommended steel “fish plates” to columns and beams for 100 psi floor load capacity.


  • Replaced 138 wood frame windows with commercial aluminum double-sash, thermo-pane windows with screens.


  • Repaired door of inside loading dock.


  • Replaced bumpers on all docks.


  • Overhauled Dover 4,000 pound capacity freight elevator.


  • Replaced two dock doors on the Plaza East side with roll-up garage doors.


  • Added two new steel exit doors on opposite side from Plaza East.


  • Repaved and re-striped front parking area.


  • Repaired and refinished front dock and removed old  steel stairs.


  • Painted walls of inside loading dock.


  • Added temporary lighting and 110 volt power outlets on all floors.


  • Installed new gutter on front dock canopy.


  • Removed rear portion of building for 32 space parking area.


  • Cleaned and painted all columns.
